A) REQUIREMENTS TO RENT A CAR

  •  The minimum age to rent a car is 25 years old. There is no maximum age limit.
  • The customer and any additional drivers must present an original and valid driver's license with photograph. The driver's license must be valid at the time of rental and maintain its validity during the rental period.
  • Rentmaz Car Rental reserves the right to verify and accept driver's licenses in accordance with the rules established by the company and deny the rental, if the document does not comply with the requirements, is illegible or presents erasures or amendments.
  • In addition to the driver's license, a second official photo ID must be presented (IFE/INE credential or Passport).
  • Proof of address (Water, Electricity or landline telephone) not older than three months.
  • Personalized credit or debit card (in the name of the renter) to pay the rent.
  • Credit card to make the security deposit. Only customers with a U.S. or Canadian driver's license may use a debit card to make the deposit, as long as the card is issued by a U.S. or Canadian bank. In all cases, the cards must be personalized in the name of the renter. Rentmaz Car Rental does not accept cash deposits. See deposit amounts.
  •  It is important to consider that Rentmaz Car Rental requires that the driver's license as well as the credit card and the identification (IFE/INE or Passport) must be at least one year old.

B) CARDS ACCEPTED

Rentmaz Car Rental accepts Visa, Mastercard and American Express cards for security deposits and/or to cover the rental cost. C) RESERVATIONS AND PREPAYMENTS

  • Unlike other car rental companies, Rentmaz Car Rental does not oversell our inventory. Each time a customer reserves a car, that unit is removed from inventory and cannot be reserved by another person.
  • For this reason, we require that all reservations be guaranteed by partial or full payment.
  • When you make a partial or full prepayment, not only can you be assured that the reserved car will be waiting for you upon arrival, but you will also be protected against any price increase.
  • You can prepay your reservation directly when booking on Rentmaz.com or via phone 669-157-2554 using a payment link. Prepaid amounts will be deducted from your total reservation. In case of partial prepayments, the remaining balance will be indicated in the reservation confirmation email and must be settled at the time of car pick-up.
  • When you make an online prepayment, telephone prepayments or through payment links, the name of the customer holding the reservation must correspond to the cardholder of the card used. Only this person will be able to pick up the car at our branch.   • We only guarantee the delivery of reserved cars if there is a guarantee through partial or full payment. The company assumes no responsibility for the cancellation of reservations subject to availability.

D) CHANGES, CANCELLATIONS AND REIMBURSEMENTS

  • CLASSIC RATE: In order to obtain a full refund, any cancellation or change must be requested at least 24 hours prior to the original pick-up time. If you do not show up to pick up the car at the scheduled time or if you request the cancellation/change with less than 24 hours notice, a penalty equivalent to one day's rental will be applied. The remaining amount will be refunded to the original means of payment.
  • SMART RATE: For a full refund, any cancellation/change must be requested at least 48 hours prior to the original pick-up time. If you do not show up to pick up the car at the scheduled time or if you request the cancellation/change less than 48 hours in advance, a penalty equivalent to two days of rental will be applied. The remaining amount will be refunded to the original means of payment.

E) ESCROW DEPOSIT POLICY

Unlike any other car rental company in Mexico, Rentmaz has a transparent and affordable escrow policy.

For your security, we do not accept security deposits in cash in any currency or by wire transfer. Deposits in support of the rental agreement will only be received through credit cards in which a pre-authorization for the amount of the deposit will be requested. At the end of the rental period, if there is no amount to collect, the pre-authorization will be cancelled and you will be given a voucher of such cancellation. Once the pre-authorization (deposit) is cancelled, it usually takes 2 to 5 business days for the banks to release the blocked amount.

The amount of the deposit depends on the car reserved as stipulated in the table below*:

*The above deposit amounts are valid for all branches except Cancun, where the deposit is MXN$6,000 for Economy, Compact, Intermediate, Full-Size and $8,000 for SUVs and Minivans.

F) CONFIRMATION OF AVAILABILITY

At Rentmaz Car Rental we do not incur in overbookings, however, because we receive reservations through many different channels, the inventory shown on our website may not always be accurate. This is why all web reservations are subject to confirmation of availability by the company. Rentmaz Car Rental will notify you within 24 hours of receiving your reservation if the reserved car is not available. In case your reservation has to be cancelled due to unavailability, you will receive a full refund of any amount paid.

G) ADDITIONAL DRIVERS

Additional drivers must be over 25 years of age and must present a valid driver's license issued by the competent authority. The additional driver shall be subject to the same obligations as the principal client regarding the driving of the car and shall also be jointly and severally liable with the principal client as regards civil liability for damages to third parties and/or to the Rentmaz car.

Additional drivers will generate a charge as detailed below:

H) RETURN TO OTHER CITIES WITHIN MEXICO (“Drop-Off” or “One-way”)

This charge is in addition to the car rental cost and any other applicable charges and varies depending on the distance between cities. This charge does not include the cost of parking, valet parking or any similar service used by the customer to leave the vehicle. Regardless of whether your rate allows for date changes in your reservation, if you request a return in another city, no changes can be made to the date or time of return of the car.

I) GASOLINE

Gasoline is not included in the total quote. With the same level of gasoline that is received, the rented vehicle must be returned to the return, according to what will be stipulated in the lease contract. There are no refunds for excess gasoline. If there is any shortage of gasoline, it will be charged at MXN$40.00 per liter.

We recommend using the Prepaid Gasoline service to save time and money.

J) OVERTIME

The minimum rental charge will be one day, regardless of whether the customer occupies the car for only part of that time. When returning the vehicle, the customer has a 30 minute grace period, starting at the time registered in the rental agreement. At the end of the grace period, the additional hour will be charged at a cost of MXN$400 for sedans and MXN$600 for SUVs/MiniVans, for a maximum period of 3 hours from the original return time. After 3 hours, the delay plus the full day will be charged according to the current rate applicable for the additional days.

K) RETURN OF THE VEHICLE AND RENTAL EXTENSION

The place and date agreed and covered by the rental contract for the return of the car can only be modified with prior authorization of Rentmaz Car Rental. In case of non-compliance with this provision by the client, in addition to the charges and penalties arising therefrom, Rentmaz Car Rental shall be entitled to terminate the rental agreement immediately and take the necessary actions to physically recover possession of the car wherever it is and whoever is driving it.

L) PROHIBITION OF SMOKING IN VEHICLES

In order to provide our customers with odor free vehicles, smoking is prohibited in all Rentmaz Car Rental vehicles. In case the vehicle is returned with cigarette residue or odor, a cleaning and deodorization charge of MXN$2500 including taxes will be applied. The cost of deodorization does not exempt the client from any damage to the car's interior caused by cigarette burns.

M) FINES FOR TRAFFIC INFRACTIONS

According to the terms of the contract, the customer will be responsible for the payment of traffic fines incurred during the period in which he/she was in possession of the vehicle. These amounts will be charged to the customer's credit card at the time of return of the vehicle or at any time thereafter. In addition to the cost of the infraction a handling fee of MXN$1,500 applies.

N) LOSS OF KEYS, REGISTRATION CARD AND LICENSE PLATES.

The keys, registration card and license plates are not included in any of the vehicle coverages, so the customer must pay the following amounts in case of loss or damage:

● Keys: MXN$4,500-MXN$20,000 (depending on model).

● Vehicle registration card: MXN$6,500

● License plates: MXN$6,500 (per piece)

O) EXTENSION OF HOURS

When the customer needs to pick up or return the car after our regular office hours, he/she should contact us to request an “extension of hours”. If the extension is authorized, an additional charge will be applied as follows:

Morning Extension > 5am-8am: $300
Evening Extension > 9pm-12am : $300
Early Morning Extension > 12am-5am : $500

P) ASSOCIATED SERVICE OPERATORS.

Rentmaz Car Rental is proud to provide directly to its customers the services and products offered through Rentmaz.com. However, in certain destinations during certain periods of high demand, some of the marketed services may be operated by one of our business partners. In this case, Rentmaz Car Rental guarantees that the agreed terms and conditions will not be modified by the operator of the service and you will enjoy the same benefits as when receiving the service directly from Rentmaz Car Rental.
